Don’t be a stick in the mud, if you have clear skies tonight, or any time this month the International Space Station will be passing within view of the United States many many times and you should be able to pick it out in the sky. If you have a telescope you are in even better luck to view the International Space Station. Either way it’s worth stepping outside to take a look at another cool engineering marvel. The ISS with it’s latest additions is now one of the brightest objects in the night sky. It is 15 times brighter than the brightest star, Sirius.

So pop over to the NASA Human Space Flight sattelite tracker info for the US, choose a state, city and then go outside and look up in the sky in the directions it mentions, at the times it mentioned, and you should be able to experience the repeating surprise and wonder at seeing a man made object flying through the sky hundreds of miles above the earth.

If you’re not in the US, you can still go to the main NASA Human Space Flight tracker page, choose your country from the drop down in the bottom left corner and get to work.

Humans can do pretty amazing things when it does not involve dealing with other human beings. For some reason we can go to the moon, send ships to mars and the moon, and we do it, for the most part, pretty darn well. If you want to feel good about being human, look at some of our technological achievements rather than our humanitarian ones. Run over to the NASA website and check out some of the amazing stuff we’re doing with space travel, the Hubble space telescope, all of the Mars projects and landers, the quality of the photography is often quite stunning and amazing.

Recently Arizona State Universty and NASA’s LROC project has been sending back some excellent high resolution moon photos for a little bit now and the teams have been making a few of them available. If you’re a fan of space and related stuff it’s definetly worth going over to their site to check it out. Click on the photo, on that site, then click again, and again and so on to zoom into them, some of them show incredible detail.

At the same time, we also produce a lot of stuff like this, a crazy lady who thinks the rainbow in her sprinklers are a goverment plot. She’s probably a chemtrail believer too, that’s kind of a scary group, but at least it keeps them away from the airports. Chemtrailers are like your crazy relative who goes on constantly about evil government plots. In this group it’s people who think that the condensation streams you see behind jet-liners actually contain, or occasionally contain, secret chemicals in an effort to test chemical weapons and other things on the US population. I think the signal to noise ratio improves a bit with seeing the results of real science and research. The chemtrailers and their related ilk are among the same crowd who believe that the moon landings were fake and filmed on a sound stage.

Every so often I come across these wild and crazy articles that just make my head spin. In this case it’s about a planned ‘Moon Bombing’ experiment that is planned by NASA. They basically plan to perform a large kinetic impact with the moon as part of their LCROSS mission.

Of course, then the nuts come out of the woodwork. While the experiment may actually violate ‘space law’, the second part of the issue, that it may trigger conflict with -KNOWN- moon dwelling space aliens, just totally blows my mind.

Check it out, and please note that while the ‘publication’ which posted this is a questionable and unreliable media source, the links on their page actually lead to sites of people who believe this tripe! It may just be better to buy a tinfoil hat so the weirdos think you’re on their side, cause there’s no cure for crazy! And just for the record, it’s about time we start probing some alien populations, they’ve been doing it to us for so long! (rolls eyes)

For the most part though, if NASA bombs your own personal plot of Lunar Realty that you might have reserved or paid some dirt bag to secure and hold for you ’till the day you make it there. Is it possible that you could declare war on the US, or own all the rights to data and materials derived from, or placed on your own lunar plot!?
